Natural Personal Care That Works for You and the Planet

At PiperWai, we believe everyday personal care should feel good, work effectively, and reflect a greater respect for the world around us. The products we use every day matter—not only because they support our comfort and confidence, but also because their ingredients and packaging have an impact beyond our bathrooms.

Our mission is to create effective, thoughtfully formulated personal care products that bring together nature-inspired ingredients, everyday performance, and more sustainable choices. From our signature activated charcoal deodorant to body washes and daily essentials, we aim to make it easier for people to build routines that align with their personal values.

We believe caring for yourself and caring for the planet can go hand in hand. PiperWai was created to challenge the idea that choosing more natural personal care means settling for products that do not meet everyday needs.

Our Story

PiperWai began in 2014 when founders Jess Edelstein and Sarah Ribner set out to find a natural alternative to conventional deodorants. While replacing traditional beauty and personal care products in their routines, they discovered that finding an effective natural deodorant was especially challenging. Some alternatives failed to provide the freshness they wanted, while others caused irritation.

Rather than giving up, they decided to experiment with creating their own formula. After more than a hundred test batches and nearly a year of development, they arrived at the activated charcoal deodorant that became the foundation of PiperWai.

In the early days, the founders made products by hand in a community kitchen, introduced them to potential retail partners, and built a growing community of customers who were looking for a different approach to everyday odor protection.

Their appearance on ABC's Shark Tank in 2015 brought wider attention to the brand and increased demand for its original deodorant. Since then, PiperWai has continued expanding its product range while remaining committed to the principles that inspired its beginnings: effective personal care, thoughtful ingredients, and a more environmentally conscious approach.

The Power of Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is at the heart of PiperWai's original deodorant formula. Known for its porous structure and absorbent properties, activated charcoal helps absorb moisture and manage unwanted odors, making it a useful ingredient in everyday underarm care.

Our deodorant collection includes cream and stick formats, giving customers different ways to incorporate the product into their routines. The cream offers a smooth, hand-applied texture, while the stick provides a familiar, convenient application method.

Our formulas are designed to help neutralize odor and absorb wetness without aluminum-based antiperspirant ingredients. This approach allows us to offer an alternative for people who prefer aluminum-free deodorant as part of their personal care routine.

We understand that everyone's preferences are different. That is why we continue to offer options intended to make finding a suitable everyday deodorant easier, whether you prefer a cream, a stick, or a discovery set that lets you explore the range.

Thoughtfully Chosen Ingredients

We believe personal care products should be developed with attention to the ingredients that go into them. PiperWai combines activated charcoal with selected plant-derived and naturally inspired ingredients, including coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils in certain formulas.

Coconut oil and shea butter help condition the skin, while selected essential oil blends provide fragrance without relying on synthetic fragrance in the products that follow this approach. The result is a collection designed around freshness, comfort, and a considered approach to daily hygiene.

Our product range is vegan and cruelty-free, reflecting our commitment to choices that consider both people and animals. We also offer products made without aluminum, and our formulas avoid certain ingredients commonly associated with conventional personal care products.

Because ingredients vary between products, we encourage customers to review the ingredient list and product information for each item when choosing what best fits their individual needs and preferences.

Beyond Deodorant

PiperWai began with a single mission: to create a natural deodorant that works. As our community and product range have grown, we have expanded into other everyday personal care essentials while keeping that original purpose in mind.

Our collection now includes body washes, body-care products, accessories, and curated kits that make it easier to explore different products together. These additions are designed to complement everyday routines and bring a thoughtful approach to more parts of personal care.

From refreshing shower products to convenient travel accessories, we aim to create products that are practical, easy to incorporate into daily life, and consistent with our broader philosophy.

We continue to focus on the essentials people reach for regularly, believing that small improvements to everyday routines can make a meaningful difference.

A More Considered Approach to Packaging

We believe sustainability should extend beyond a product's formula. Packaging is an important part of the personal care industry, and we recognize the need to consider the materials used to protect, store, and deliver everyday essentials.

PiperWai has worked to move toward more environmentally conscious packaging, including the use of post-consumer recycled materials and other alternatives to conventional packaging where applicable. These efforts reflect our belief that a more sustainable personal care routine should be practical and accessible.

We know that creating meaningful environmental change is an ongoing process. Rather than treating sustainability as a single achievement, we view it as a continuing responsibility to evaluate our choices and look for better approaches.

Our goal is to make products that fit naturally into everyday life while encouraging more thoughtful decisions about the items we use and the resources they require.

Personal Care for Every Body

PiperWai is a Black, female-owned business built around the idea that personal care should be inclusive and accessible. Our products are designed for people with different routines, preferences, and lifestyles, with gender-neutral options that can be enjoyed by a broad community.

We believe personal hygiene should not be complicated by unnecessary expectations or restrictive ideas about who a product is for. Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel comfortable, confident, and fresh in their own way.

Whether you are looking for an aluminum-free deodorant, a new body wash, or a convenient personal care kit, we want you to find options that suit your needs and make your daily routine feel a little better.

Our Mission: Honor the Earth Through Everyday Routines

At PiperWai, our mission is to honor the earth through the everyday routines we often take for granted. We believe that choosing personal care products with thoughtfully selected ingredients and more responsible packaging can be one small step toward a more considered lifestyle.

Since 2014, our journey has been guided by curiosity, experimentation, and a determination to create products that work without losing sight of the values behind them. We continue to learn, improve, and develop personal care essentials that reflect those principles.

From our original activated charcoal deodorant to our growing range of body-care products, we remain committed to making daily hygiene more effective, thoughtful, and enjoyable.
