Japanese Beauty, Inspired by Healthy Skin
At Koh Gen Do, we believe beautiful makeup begins with healthy skin. Since our founding in Tokyo in 1986, our mission has been to create skincare and cosmetics that enhance natural beauty while caring for the skin beneath. By combining the wisdom of nature with advanced Japanese skincare technology, we develop products that help skin look radiant, healthy, and effortlessly beautiful.
Our philosophy is simple:
Make bare skin the star of the show.
Our Story
Koh Gen Do was born from the vision of a Japanese actress who struggled with skin fatigue caused by long hours under heavy stage and film makeup. Determined to create products that were both effective and gentle, she began developing skincare solutions inspired by traditional Japanese beauty rituals and natural ingredients.
At a time when cosmetics often prioritized fragrance, color, and glamour over skin health, Koh Gen Do took a different path. We focused on creating products that supported the skin's natural balance while delivering professional-level performance. This commitment quickly earned the trust of makeup artists, actresses, and beauty professionals throughout Japan.
From Tokyo Dressing Rooms to Hollywood Sets
What began in a small Tokyo salon soon expanded beyond Japan.
Our products became favorites among professional makeup artists working in television, film, and theater. In 1989, Koh Gen Do introduced one of the industry's first foundations developed specifically for high-definition broadcasting, helping performers achieve flawless results under increasingly advanced camera technology.
Today, Koh Gen Do products have been used in more than 1,400 film, television, and stage productions around the world, earning recognition from beauty professionals who demand both performance and skin-friendly formulations.
Our approach combines nature, science, and professional expertise.
We carefully select botanical ingredients and pair them with innovative Japanese skincare technology to create products that nourish, protect, and enhance the skin's natural ability to thrive.
Our formulations are designed with a commitment to:
- Skin-Friendly Ingredients
- Botanical-Based Formulas
- Professional Performance
- Advanced Japanese Technology
- Gentle Yet Effective Results
- Long-Lasting Wear
- Healthy-Looking Radiance
We believe every product applied to the skin should contribute to its overall health and beauty.
