The Story Behind KM Tools
KM Tools began with Jonathan Katz-Moses and his passion for woodworking.
Jonathan started his woodworking journey in 2014 after helping a friend build a planter. What began as a small project quickly developed into a serious passion. He started working from a modest 108-square-foot shed without electricity and gradually built his skills, workshop, and collection of tools.
As Jonathan gained experience, he discovered that many of the tools and plans available to woodworkers did not meet the standards he was looking for. Some tools were disappointing, while poorly designed plans could waste valuable time and materials.
Instead of accepting that as part of woodworking, Jonathan decided to build better solutions himself.
From One Workshop to KM Tools
One of Jonathan's early innovations was the Katz-Moses Magnetic Dovetail Jig.
The first versions were prototyped, cut, and assembled by Jonathan himself in his workshop. After several iterations, the jig evolved into a durable and practical woodworking tool designed to help woodworkers achieve more consistent dovetail joints.
The success of the Magnetic Dovetail Jig helped KM Tools grow from a small woodworking operation into a broader company serving makers around the world.
Today, KM Tools continues to develop its own products while also offering carefully selected tools and supplies from respected brands.
